This issue is now the default page definitions only, not a hand-built layout. Layout work moved to
the field-store, renderer and carousel issues; see

Do not hard-code these layouts. They are descriptors like any other, which is what makes the
phone-side configuration issue cheap rather than a rewrite.
Update — 2026-09-01: retitled, and Phase 1 scope narrowed
Retitled from "view_ride layout for 200x228" — the title outlived the change of direction recorded on
2026-08-31 and still described a hand-built layout at a hard-coded size, which is now the opposite of
what this issue asks for.
Phase 1 also narrows to
emerywithHERO2andQUADonly (D32).HERO1andGRID6move to Phase1b along with round support and internationalisation. The three default pages here all fit within
HERO2+QUAD, so nothing in this issue is blocked by that.Default page 2 and 3 field orders change so that the emphasised slot (D29) carries the value worth

The "verified on device in sunlight, in German and English" criterion predates
D32 moving
internationalisation to Phase 1b — #51 owns the i18n scaffolding, and Phase 1 ships English only.
Verify the default pages on device in sunlight in English; the German arm of that check moves to #51
in Phase 1b.
Confirmed already satisfied structurally, no new PR needed -- audited directly rather than dispatching an agent for what turned out to be pure verification. page.c's DEFAULT_DESCRIPTORS (from #58, PR #81) match this issue's exact field spec byte-for-byte: Ride = HERO2 (SPEED hero, AVG_SPEED, DISTANCE), Effort = QUAD with HR in slot 0 (the emphasised slot per PAGE_EMPHASISED_SLOT), then POWER_3S/CADENCE/AVG_POWER, Progress = QUAD with REMAINING emphasised, then DISTANCE/ELAPSED/ETA. #59's template renderer (merged, PR #87) renders these for real on emery, confirmed with live emulator screenshots at the time.
Two bullets genuinely can't be satisfied yet, not silently skipped: "map page defined but disabled by default" has no map page/view to define (#42/view_map doesn't exist), and "verified on device in sunlight" needs Robert's physical watch -- both noted here rather than closed as if done. Closing this issue since its actual, buildable scope (the three page descriptors) is real and complete; the map-page and sunlight-verification items are for whichever future issue actually builds the map view and for Robert's own device pass.
